There are a lot of bars, clubs and restaurants that I could include here (take a look at my travel guide at Christmastime if you want), so I will just include some of those that I have heard positive things about from other travellers.

Restaurants

El Coral
Good, very cheap Cuban food. Mainly frequented by locals. Avenida 3, entre Calle 28 y Calle 29

El Bodegon Criollo
Barbeque food. Good service and less expensive than average. Avenida de la Playa, esq Calle 40

La Gruta
A restaurant in a cave. Really good wine here. Food is mainly skewers (beef, pork, etc.), rice and breads. Reviewer sounded really happy with it. Parque Josone - 1ra Ave. E/58 y 59

Nova Pizza
Pizza! Reviewer seemed really happy with it. Prices about average. Centro de Convencione - Plaza America

Castel Nuovo
Good Italian food. Seems to be a lot of variety! More dishes are less than $10.

Lai Lai
Chinese food. Nice atmosphere, food is ok by Canadian standards. Bit expensive.

Restaurante Albacora
Seafood restaurant. Nice ambiance, close to the ocean, live music. Calle 59, Avenida Playa

Bars

Cueva del Pirata
"The Pirate's Cave" seems to be a pretty popular place, many people mention it. There is a tropicana-style show at the beginning of the night, and then a dance bar afterwards. Mixed reviews on the show, but the bar seems pretty popular.

Mambo Club
Dance lessons! Another popular place. $10 to get in, includes an open bar. Differing reviews on the music; some say mostly Cuban, some say not enough Cuban. Carretera de Las Morlas, km. 14

Havana Club
Pretty popular, mostly American music. $10 to get in, open bar.
