Poppyseed Salad
either from my Grandma or my Mom - they keep arguing over whose recipe it really is
This is a nice, light refreshing salad for those who like their salads a little on the sweet side.

Dressing Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 cup vinegar
  • 3 tbsp. onion juice, or small onion
  • 2 cups oil
  • 3 tbsp. poppyseeds

Blend in a blender and chill. This recipe can be halved if you don't have a lot of storage space in your fridge, or if you are bad at using things up quickly. We usually make a half recipe!

Salad Ingredients:

  • 1 head romaine lettuce
  • 1 apple, chopped fine
  • 1 cup green grapes
  • 1 pear, chopped fine
  • 1 can mandarin orange
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds

Toss all ingredients and add some dressing. Voila!

This recipe actually makes a really big salad, more suitable to a barbeque or potluck than two people. Scale as desired!
