Ingredients:
- 5 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 c. butter
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 c. sour milk (add 1 tsp. vinegar to milk)
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Mix flour, 1 c. sugar, baking powder and soda, salt and nutmeg. Cut in butter until crumbly.
In a separate bowl, beat eggs and add remaining sugar. Add milk and vanilla. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and blend well (I had to use my hands). Chill.
Roll out to 1/8" (I never got it this thin!), cut with cup or cookie cutter. Dip in a mixture of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Bake at 350oF for 8 to 15 minutes (careful not to let it get too dark!). Makes about 6 dozen (I got more though, it depends on your cookie cutter).
